Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees Approves the 2026-27 Classroom Teacher Compensation

Posted Date: 04/20/26 (09:43 PM)

We are excited to share that on Monday, April 20, the Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees approved a meaningful investment in classroom teacher compensation for the 2026-27 school year. This approved plan positions the district at or above the market median when compared to 15 surrounding school districts, while maintaining a balanced budget and supporting long-term financial stability.

Because of the community’s support of Proposition A in November 2025, the district is now able to implement this increase for classroom teachers, which includes at least a 3% increase at midpoint, along with targeted adjustments across the salary scale. The new classroom teacher pay scale will be reflected in the employee’s first paycheck of the 2026-27 school year.

This includes:

  • starting salary increase to $58,500

  • Adjustments across the entire teacher salary scale to improve competitiveness and retain high-quality teachers

  • A focused effort to strengthen pay as years of experience increase

  • The Board approved the 2026-27 proposed teacher salary plan in the graph below. It highlights the district teacher scale to now be at or above the market median.

Teacher Salary Plans Graphs“This is a direct result of our community passing Prop A in November,” said Liberty Hill ISD Superintendent Travis Motal. “Because of this, we are able to make thoughtful, strategic investments in our teachers while maintaining the financial stability of the district. This allows us to continue our shared work of building champions in academics, character, and community.”

Budget priorities include:

  • Improving competitiveness with surrounding districts

  • Supporting long-term retention of high-quality teachers

  • Maintaining a balanced budget while ensuring long-term financial stability

The district has been partnering with an external firm for the past several months to review pay grades against the surrounding market. This comprehensive pay audit is ongoing and will be completed in May. Recommendations will be presented to the Board for consideration through a multi-phase approach. Phase 1 focused on classroom teacher compensation and was approved at the April regular board meeting, while recommendations for all other staff groups will be coming in May.

“The Board is proud to approve a plan that reflects both our commitment to our teachers and our responsibility to the community,” said Liberty Hill ISD Board President Megan Parsons. “This investment honors the important work happening in our classrooms while ensuring we remain strong and financially stable as a district.”

We are grateful for our teachers and the impact they make every day. This investment reflects the value our community places on their work.
